The AC1 Sentinel Finds a New Home

Nicholas “The Chieftain” Moran and Richard “The Challenger” Cutland take us on a journey across the ocean, to the Australian Armour & Artillery Museum in Cairns, Australia.

You may have remembered that a few months ago Australia’s legendary tank, the Mark 1 (AC1) Sentinel, made the journey from Texas, USA, to the Australian Armor & Artillery Museum in Cairns. To commemorate the tank’s journey and its exciting history (it’s the only Australian mass-produced tank), Wargaming has produced its own documentary. Tank enthusiasts and documentary buffs alike can check out the video, and, if you’re around Cairns, you can visit the exhibition yourself.

Before AC1 Sentinel was ready for the public eye, it needed a little refurbishment. The commander's cupola, hatch door, and armored visor door have been fabricated and fixed. Its gun barrel has been cosmetically restored, and the tank has undergone sandblasting and painting to make it fit for roll call.

If visiting the tank in real life or watching the documentary isn’t enough, you can also put the tank to the test yourself. From today, you can jump in gunner’s seat of the AC1 Sentinel in World of Tanks (PC) and World of Tanks Blitz. You’ll find the tank with its other Commonwealth contemporaries in the British Tech Tree. A Premium Tier 4 Medium tank, the AC1 Sentinel’s decent top speed, rate of fire, and gun depression make it a great all-rounder and unique addition to any commander’s garage.
