World of Warships Charters New Development Waters

Short-term dev cycles have introduced a revamped matchmaker, prototyped game modes, and more.

World of Warships has adjusted its heading in the past few months, choosing a new approach of short-term dev cycles. What this means for the players out there is that they can expect more frequent updates that will arrive every three weeks. Short-term dev cycles allow the team to react quicker to community feedback and wishes; they also mean a faster turnaround on fixing bugs, making small tweaks, and fine-tuning the over gaming experience. Alongside this, players can still expect large features and content on the horizon.

This new approach was first used to bring weather effects, which were implemented step by step. Storm clouds first appeared on one map for tier 8-10; effects were tested fully to ensure they were shipshape, player feedback was taken onboard so the feature could be fully polished, and then it was implemented for vessels of Tier 6 and higher across 11 maps.

The big addition that short-term dev cycles have introduced now is totally revamped matchmaking. A new algorithm will completely balance teams. Players will have no trouble finding a perfect team to play in, with the new matchmaker having eliminated any chance of being unfairly matched. Expect skill and teamwork in battle to matter now more than ever.

Players can also get to grips with additional game modes to add a more diverse playing experience. Several prototypes are currently in development. Commencing today, the Bastion game mode will be available for high-tier battles on the Atlantic map. In Bastion, players will assault or defend onshore installations.

Coming later in July will be another game mode for testing: Epicenter. Players can look forward to more information coming in the near future. The team will also be working towards releasing the first iteration of integrated voice chat along with lots of other community-requested improvements, like the visibility system, minimap, and accounting level.
