World of Warships Update 0.5.1 Ships Out

World of Warships has been sailing the developmental seas and returned to port with its first major update: 0.5.1. Set to go live on November 5 in North America and on November 6 in Asia, the CIS and EU, commanders can expect three new maps, a brand new game mode “Zone”, and lots of other enhancements.

The three new maps—featuring the very first night map—will be waiting for players to get their sea legs. “Northern Lights” may be familiar to some, but now the map is shrouded in darkness, lit only by exploding vessels and the Aurora Borealis. “Land of Fire”, inspired by South America, plunges commanders into a cluster of islands at dusk. Finally, “The Trap”, modelled on the fearsome naval skirmishes between the U.S. and Japanese fleets, even features an active volcano spitting smoke in a tropical setting.

“Zone” is the new game mode where players must weigh risk and reward in a bid to capture one giant base in the middle of the battlefield. This base, which becomes active two minutes into the battle, requires a full reevaluation of tactics—commanders just can’t sit there waiting for the other team to move. Also in update 0.5.1 are other tweaks and additions including “Events”, “Challenges”, “Missions, and “Daily Missions”.

For the brave players out there busy tackling Ranked Battles, they can reap bigger and better rewards with flags to make your vessel shipshape. Finally, for those who want to brush up on their tactics and solidify their strategies, Introductory Missions have been introduced.
