Wargaming is looking for a Team Lead Software Engineer to take charge of our Premium Shop Team in the Platform Department dedicated to providing a seamless and enjoyable experience to our players, while decreasing development costs and removing the hurdles to publishing new titles.

The Platform team seeks to accomplish this by creating a common set of scalable, data-centric services and tools. Once implemented across Wargaming, developers will be able to release new products and major features in weeks rather than months. Publishing teams will have access to a greater level of account management and monetization options including player-customized, rule-based advanced commerce. The services developed by our Platform Team enable the global distribution and operation of all Wargaming studios and connect us to our 200m+ audience.

The Premium Shop Team is responsible for a wide range of tools for monetization of every Wargaming game. It includes a storefront for selling in-game assets, a package management system, an orders system for revenue tracking, and a built-in offers system.

What will you do?

  • Take the lead in implementing the best practices in development process, creation of code, service templates, libraries, interfaces, etc.

  • Lead the team, being the entry point for internal clients and overseeing the ensuing direct interaction between them and the team members

  • Control the delivery of team tasks to production ON TIME while meeting the quality requirements

  • Maintain code quality standards, merge work plans for multiple services into a single one with priorities, provide work time estimates and run the pre-production

  • Set team goals and develop the team in line with the platform strategy

  • Conduct quarterly and annual performance reviews, accompanied by an Engineering Manager

  • Maintain a roadmap of service improvement and adhere to it

What are we looking for?

  • 5+ years of experience as a server-side software engineer in a Unix environment using at least 2 programming languages

  • 2+ years of experience building highly scalable, distributed systems

  • Experience making key decisions over several projects in the areas of development/testing workflow, technology stack, etc.

  • Experience with a modern general-purpose language (Python, Ruby, Golang, Perl, Erlang, Java, Scala, JavaScript, C, C++, C#, etc.)

  • Strong unit testing and debugging skills

  • Knowledge of test methodologies and approaches

  • Hands-on experience in maintaining a production system

  • Experience tech-leading a team

  • Pro-active and communicative

What additional skills will help you stand out?

  • Experience in shell scripting and system administration of a Unix system

  • Technology-agnostic approach to engineering

  • Experience with Python/Java/Scala/Erlang/JavaScript/Elixir/Golang

  • Experience working in cloud environments

  • Understanding of SQL, NoSQL, column-oriented, object, BLOB and other databases and storage solutions

  • Experience with messaging and/or streaming systems, cloud computing and/or micro-service architectures

  • Upper-Intermediate or higher level of English
