How We Do It: gamescom

gamescom 2014, featuring the public debut of World of Warships, was one of the most successful trade shows Wargaming has ever taken part in. Our expo presence has always been massive and our booths meticulously constructed. In a word, we always play big. At gamescom 2014, though, the energy and dedication of the Wargaming team literally electrified the air. It wasn’t just about effort. It was about true teamwork, selflessness and the collective focusing on a single goal. There was real chemistry at gamescom and we managed to achieve it with more than a 100 Wargaming employees across 20 different nationalities from around the world.

Below is the short history of our path from gamescom 2011 to the legendary show delivered in Cologne, Germany in 2014.

The way players accepted World of Warships left our team in Cologne speechless. The waiting time to get to the booth and play World of Warships peaked at 3 hours. But, the wait never stopped attendees from getting to the game, and we saw lots of people play the game and get back in line to try it out again.

The German version of IGN.com named World of Warships the “Number 1 free-to-play to try out at gamescom 2014”.

We did it first at gamescom 2014: standalone livestream broadcasting studio, five game zones, underwater dance show.
