The 2016 Taipei Game Show Recap

Wargaming recently made their third appearance at the leading gaming event in Asia: the Taipei Game Show. A huge, international networking event, TpGS took place January 29 to February 2, and hosted 2,000 booths from over 300 exhibitors across the globe.

As the game show has grown, so, too, has Wargaming. This year’s booth was a massive 648 sqm., which was divided into several areas: stage, photo booth, gaming zones and the backstage area with PR meeting room, lounge and redemption zone.

Warships was the name of the game this year, with fans from everywhere visiting the Yamato ship photo zone to get their picture taken. Our gaming zones featured our flagship titles, from the veteran World of Tanks (PC) to newer titles like World of Warships, World of Tanks Console (PS4 and Xbox One) and World of Tanks Mobile (World of Tanks Blitz and World of Tanks Generals).

As fans have come to expect, Wargaming at TpGS meant lots of activities to keep people entertained and great collaborations with our partners. Samsung provided a fleet of slick monitors for our World of Warships gaming zone and Razer had us covered for mice, headsets and keyboards. For our eSports gamers, Tt supplied them for mice, headsets and keyboards to get the edge on World of Tanks, and Nvidia made sure all our PCs had awesome graphics.

During the opening ceremony, the retired former Military Honor Guard of the Republic of China Military put on an awesome display for the visitors—the first ever live performance by them in the history of Taipei Game Show.

Activities

5v5 Live Battle Event

During the 5-day event, visitors could take center stage, testing their battle skills in the World of Tanks and World of Warships 5v5 Live Battle Event, where they could duke it out with Wargaming employees, Wargaming staff around the booth and renowned game streamers.

Arpeggio of Blue Steel -ARS NOVA-

Truly one of the most anticipated events, the voice actors from the popular anime Arpeggio of Blue Steel -ARS NOVA- dropped in to greet the Wargaming crowd. Iona (Mai Fuchigami) and Myoko (Ayaka Fukuhara) spoke with fans and talked about the show.

Girls und Panzer

Not content with just having some of the cast from Arpeggio of Blue Steel -ARS NOVA-, Mai Fuchigami cast off “Iona” and returned to the stage as Miho Nishizumi from the popular anime "Girls und Panzer". Since her last performance during the 2014 Taipei Game Show, fans had eagerly awaited her return. This time, Max Chuvalov, Marketing Product Manager for World of Tanks, also took to the stage to talk about some events that they did together, as well as what fans might expect in the future.

Max also announced a new mod for World of Tanks, featuring Girls und Panzer content in World of Tanks that fans have been waiting for. Towards the end of the show, Mai played several rounds of Rock, Paper, and Scissors with lucky fans, who walked away with autographed content.

Lucky Spin

This event let fans get their hands on some great Wargaming swag like a Limited Wargaming Folder—Game Show Edition, World of Warships keychains, Torpedo Pen, World of Tanks/ World of Warships Mouse Pads, World of Tanks/World of Warships T-Shirts, and even PS4/Xbox One consoles.

Protect the Battleship Princess

Not content with all our other activities, audience members were randomly selected to play “Protect the Battleship Princess”. These lucky players went head-to-head against Wargaming booth staff in a World of Warships battles on stage. Players had to defend ships controlled by one of the booth staff, making it knights against princesses!

Dev Talk

As always, the Wargaming team was out in full force, chatting with the press about what players can expect in the future. Hisashi Ygimuna, Publishing Producer for World of Warships Asia, presented some of the features setting sail for World of Warships, like the first Taiwanese vessel, Lo Yang. Chad Steingraber flew in to talk shop about the recently launched World of Tanks on PlayStation 4, letting visitors see just how they delivered an unparalleled console experience.

Wargaming had a fantastic time at the Taipei Game Show. We hope to see all of you again for another amazing show!
