Your Guide to the gamescom Booth

In case you didn’t know, Wargaming is currently rocking the Koelnmesse in Cologne, bringing fans some awesome offerings across PC, mobile and console. Today, the press is having the run of the Wargaming booth, but tomorrow through to Sunday, the public will be able get their fill of what’s on offer. Along with fans taking to the high seas in World of Warships, causing hvoc in World of Tanks, seeing how console tank action is shaping up on World of Tanks for Xbox, plus World of Tanks Generals and World of Tanks Blitz, there is still even more on offer.

We’re looking at what streamers QuickyBaby, gRuMM3L and MaDnezZ have been getting up to at gamescom, as well as a rundown of the booth’s zones.

Zones

The theme of this year’s booth is “topography”. In its simplest terms, it’s describing shapes on maps so that you know their surface area. This is helpful when you are piloting a ship, so you don’t bump into an iceberg or tear open the hull of your ship by passing treacherous and unseen underwater rocks. No doubt we’ve all seen topological maps before, usually in sonar radars or simple maps of large areas or on commander’s desk in military films. They are most similar to an ordnance survey map, which was pioneered by the Royal Engineers of the late 1700s. By 1891, a series of maps measuring Great Britain to a scale of one inch to the mile was ready for publication.

At the Wargaming booth, World of Warships is making waves with players and press. Because this has been the game’s biggest gamescom, we wanted the booth to become like a gateway to a nautical realm. The different “zones” act as relief maps for different titles. You’ve got World of Warships on your port (left) side, along with World of Tanks on Xbox One. Starboard (right) bound is World of Tanks, World of Tanks Generals and World of Tanks Blitz. Finally, at the bow (front) you have the main stage, where people get to check out the various special shows and where all the presentations of our titles are taking place. Up top (the crow’s nest), are our three gamescom streamers.

World of Tanks

Of course, people flock to gamescom to game. That means we have to make sure we set up the perfect gaming environment for our players. We do this with Alienware X51 PCs, an NVIDIA GTX960 with 8bg ram, i7 CPU. To really make the graphics pop, we’re using Dell UltraSharp 27 inch monitors, running at 2560x1440 WQHD, with razer keyboards and mice. Players get to chose from any vehicle in the game to test their might.

World of Warships

For our World of Warships setup, you’ll find same the tech running through all the gaming stations, with the only change being Logitech monitors. So far, players have been roaming the seas in some of the game’s Tier 10 vessels, like mighty Yamato.

World of Tanks on Xbox One

With gamescom coming hot off the heels of World of Tanks for Xbox One, console tankers are trying out any and every tank from the game. With revamped graphics, destructible environments, and a huge arsenal to choose from, there’s nothing else quite like it on Xbox and Xbox One.

World of Tanks Blitz

Wargaming’s mobile and tablet offerings may be on a smaller screen, but there just as big of an experience. gamescom is the first place the public are able to play the game’s App Store build, as well as the latest update for World of Tanks Blitz.

Streamers

There are three streamers broadcasting gameplay and cool goings on from our events stage at gamescom. These guys are covering the stage show and finales to product-specific interviews and announcements. They are a great source of information so everyone can keep up-to-date with our gamescom action.

But that’s not all. Those of you watching the stream are able to snag prizes from a variety of sponsors including Razer, Gigabyte and Italeri. All you have to do is keep an eye on the streams to be in with a chance to win.

QuickyBaby (EN Stream)

QuickyBaby is one of World of Tanks biggest and best known YouTubers and streamers. Fans will know his videos from insane RNG, tank previews and game modes, and loads more. He’s busy streaming World of Tanks and World of Warships at gamescom, as well as giving people the lowdown on what’s happening and handing out prizes for his position overlooking our booth.

QuickyBaby was there today, from 14:00—18:30, and he’ll be there the rest of the event too! Check him out on Twitch.tv to follow all his gamescom happenings.
