Wargaming's business operations center is located in South East Asia and was founded in January 2012. Its goal is to facilitate access to Wargaming’s products for gamers in the region. The central office is located in Singapore with regional subdivisions operating in Japan, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Australia, Vietnam and Taiwan. Having teams at these offices helps users in the region to receive the necessary support in various languages from English, Mandarin, Thai, Vietnamese and Japanese.
Customer Relations (CR) Department
The Customer Relations Department is the backbone of the company's operations and also provides frontend support for all customers in Asia. As a result, it comprises several sub-department teams, including Customer Service, Community, Content, Social Media and eSports. All of these teams handle players directly in their own way on different channels and platforms.
Helmed by Deon Pek, head of CR for the Asia cluster, the primary mission of the CR department is to deliver quality service with a human touch, which we accomplish by establishing close ties to our community at large, meeting expectations and addressing any concerns at hand.
Customer Service (CS) Team
All teams are arguably indispensable in their own right, but we can’t deny that customer relations would have a hard time without the CS team in charge. These men and women are there to help with any problems our customers encounter, be it severe latency, purchasing errors or client hiccups. The myriad forms of payment systems used and the sheer number of languages supported in the region is enough to overwhelm anyone, but thanks to strong leadership and a tight-knit group of colleagues, Wargaming Asia's multi-national CS team make it look easy.
eSports Team
Like the rest of the company, Wargaming Asia is committed to making competitive gaming a huge hit for our players, and this is in no small part due to the efforts of our eSports team. Under their initiative, players from all over the region are encouraged to participate and attend tournament events both major and minor. We believe that this passion for competitive play means that our games will last for years to come and encourage even more professional gamers to emerge and lend us their support.
Already, several teams are rising through the ranks and gaining fame in the tournament circuit, vital ingredients for success in eSports. This would not be possible without the initiative displayed by the eSports team, who work tirelessly each day by organizing even more exciting tournaments and coordinating the necessary logistics to present awe-inspiring matches in every finals tournament.
Community Team
What better way to interact with the players than by talking to them in person? The Community team is charged with the unending quest to provide a constant ear to anyone who wants to speak with us at Wargaming Asia, to let them know that we’re always listening to their concerns. As ambassadors of the game and the players (depending on who they speak to at any given moment), they are instrumental in forging the bond between us and the community, which they do so with team members handpicked for their bilingual skills, who also possess a unique blend of engagement and enthusiasm that makes them a perfect fit.
Content Team
If our Community team is the face of Wargaming Asia, we think the Content team is surely its voice. Aside from the game client itself, practically everything else a player may see related to Wargaming is likely to be produced by these wordsmiths.
The Content team is in charge of the official portal, where they work tirelessly to produce content in five different languages that informs, educates and entertains anyone who wants to learn more about our titles. Because of the all-encompassing scope of the portal's news articles—be it an announcement of a tournament’s registration periods or a feature article about a future Update—the Content team also serves as a conduit between the other teams and the community, relaying any and all pertinent information from one to the other.
Social Media Team
This team handles all of Wargaming Asia's social media efforts, reaching out to players across Facebook or Twitter. Because the Social Media team focuses on crafting succinct and engaging messages, the team occupies the spot between Community and Content, providing a valuable dimension of community to our customers.
The unique environment of the typical social media platform also means that we can reach out to even more prospective customers and encourage them to explore what Wargaming has to offer. This is only made possible by adopting an open, upbeat personality, which the team has done with marked success.
Marketing Department
The Marketing team in South East Asia includes the Local Marketing, PR, Events and Art teams. Led by Jem Loh Head of Marketing for Asia, the team spreads out across offices in Japan, Taiwan, Thailand, the Philippines, Malaysia and Vietnam to support the regional marketing and communications efforts of the Asian cluster. Local Managers also double up as country experts in Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines and are responsible for drawing new players to our games through performance advertising, traditional advertising, branding and more.
PR Team
The Asia PR team is a collaboration of the SEA and Japan team of PR specialists. With ties to numerous media outlets all across the region, from Japan to down under in Australia, the team is responsible for all local media relations and rolling out PR and communications plans in individual countries, as well as for the whole of Asia. It’s thanks to them that Wargaming is able to continually capture and retain community consciousness, ensuring that our titles stay fresh in the minds of the public.
Events Team
With a tight but immensely hardworking task force of nine individuals, the Asian Events team is spread out across Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, Taiwan and the Philippines. The team has a wealth of experience running large scale mass public gaming events such as the Taipei Game Show, as well as smaller military events including the Taiwan Navy Base Opening and Thailand Campus Roadshows. With their tenacity and their resourcefulness, even the smallest venue can become the perfect place to showcase all that Wargaming has to offer.
Art Team
With designers in Singapore, Japan and Thailand, the Art team in Asia is composed of highly creative individuals with a flair for depicting epic imagery and producing stunning designs no matter the medium. Together they tackle art tasks of any size and scale, from the gorgeous booth designs at our game shows like PAX Australia 2014, to the eye-catching online banners used for web campaigns. Without their presence, the world of Wargaming would be a drab affair devoid of color or inspirational illustration.
