Wargaming Europe: Team-by-Team

Introduction

It’s Wargaming Europe’s job to promote and support all Wargaming titles in seven languages: French, English, German, Polish, Czech, Spanish, and Turkish. But that’s not all; they oversee all of the European territories with a multicultural workforce of over 20 different nationalities, coming from all over Europe and beyond, who do everything from Customer Support to Branding, and Marketing. And though there’s a lot of departments in Wargaming Europe, we have a really open office environment so it’s easy for everyone to work and communicate together.

Being part of the Wargaming Europe family means that we don’t just spend our time at the office working hard across Wargaming’s titles, or fighting to play FIFA or snooker; we also hang out outside of work, whether it’s grabbing a drink, playing football, going rock climbing, or unwinding at a company BBQ.

So why not take the chance to see exactly what our different departments get up to at Wargaming Europe and see what all the fuss is about?

Publishing

Our Publishing Department is the largest branch at Wargaming Europe, and these are the people who look after our players over all our flagship titles, update the website with great content, and ensure everyone knows about and has a fantastic time playing our games.

Customer Service

These are the guys who you contact when you’ve got a problem or question relating to one of our titles. It’s their job to make sure your playing experience runs as smoothly as possible, so they’ll field questions about in-game billing, in-game problems, and anything else that you’re having an issue with. They’re here to get you back in the gunner’s seat, cockpit, or behind the wheel.

Community

Our Community Department primarily look after Wargaming’s forums and social media channels. If you see a cool forum topic, an interesting post on Facebook, then it’s them. They work to be a part of the conversation, to communicate with our players, and, most importantly, to listen to the community.

The Community Department also organize out-of-game competitions for some really cool prizes. You’ll see them cruising around in the Wargaming EU truck for off-line events, and love meeting players face-to-face.

Content

The Content Department works with our CMS—Content Management System—uploading info to the game portals, like all our great news, promotions, and updates. Content Specialists proofread and translate articles into the 7 languages that our games support throughout the European region.

Then there’s the editors who create news content for Wargaming’s titles, such as World of Tanks, World of Warplanes, and our mobile titles. They write articles, create original series and coordinate with the specialists on their team. They also work with other departments like Business Development and Marketing.

Military Specialists

At Wargaming, accuracy and authenticity is key for us in building unparalleled gaming experiences. So naturally we have Military Specialists who collaborate with lots of different departments to ensure every facet of our games get it right. Our specialists are also active within the Wargaming community forums and even help with vehicle models that other companies develop. Also, don’t be surprised if you encounter our Military Specialists at our many offline events or rolling out with the Wargaming EU truck.

eSports

Though eSports for Wargaming may still be a developing territory, we believe it’s something at the heart of the player experience. The eSports team arrange both online and offline competitive events where teams can go head-to-head (and make a living doing so) to see who’s the champ.

Our eSports department arranges spectacular events communicated to the public via Wargaming.net League and World of Tanks websites, as well as various social media channels. The team works in close cooperation with partners and sponsors across the entire world. The Wargaming.net League Grand Finals held in Poland were a great leap in the eSports department. Now it’s set to become even bigger and better.

Marketing, Branding & Art

It’s Marketing’s job to raise awareness and get the word out about Wargaming and all the great services that we offer. They’ll figure out the best way to grab people’s attention through a variety of mediums, from TV, the web, social media, magazines, and newsletters. They’ll define and coordinate the marketing strategy for each title, creating marketing assets from brief to delivery, to be used across multiple media. Marketing look at what players like and love, and how we can keep our players happy and attract even more.

There’s also our events management department that help make events like Gamescom, community offline events—and a lot more—memorable and unique experiences for our players.

The Art department work broadly across Wargaming, catering to a lot of different departments. They create iconic artwork that you’ll see across magazines, newsletters, banners, our websites, wherever else artistic flair is needed—they even helped design our Wargaming EU truck for offline events.

Branding & Segmentation

Global Branding helps define the universal voice and appearance of Wargaming—of who we are. Where did you think “Let’s Battle” comes from? Or the iconic slogans that accompany our games? They’re dedicated to ensuring we’re authentic and accurate, and have a strong brand which brings a lot of players together to enjoy our games.

Another important section is Segmentation, which delves into the minds of our potential customers. It analyzes our audience, knows who the different targets are, where we should be going and the ways in which we can keep our players happy and attract more people to our games. And because the player base is so diverse, it’s important for us to create a strong brand that’s accessible for anyone that wants to play.

At Wargaming Europe, we cover both Western and Eastern public relations that help to manage Wargaming’s public image and its relationship with our gamers and companies. They work to earn understanding and maintain goodwill between Wargaming and the public.

Business Development

Wargaming’s Business Development department focuses on growing the brand, developing strong relationships with our partners such as Razer, Logitech, Asus, and model kits the company collaborate on. Many people will be aware of Wargaming’s most prominent partnership in the UK and US regions with the motion picture film, FURY. This promotion helped strengthen the Wargaming brand and catch the attention of prospective players.

Wargaming’s European producing team works together with our offices on a global level, acting as the bridge between the development departments, and regional publishing teams. They ensure global information exchange, and help to develop and maintain schedules and budgets for all our products and platforms, as well as coordinating publishing activities through all EU departments.
