The Wargaming MMO wins again at the Still Playing category after receiving an upgrade to graphics and music in the 2018 seminal 1.0 update
World of Tanks continues to set records. This time, it’s about Golden Joysticks: last Friday the tank MMO was given its fourth award, becoming the first game ever to collect one in four different years, and the first game ever to win in the same category (Still Playing) for the second time in a row. Wargaming representatives raised the prize up triumphantly at theceremony held at Bloomsbury Big Top Hall in London.
World of Tanks was launched in Summer 2010 in CIS and in Spring 2011 globally, taking the online gaming world by a storm and claiming its first Golden Joystick as the MMO Game of the Year in 2012 and the second as the Best Online Game in 2013. In 2017, the game scored its third win, the first in the debuting Still Playing category.
In Spring 2018, the look and sound of World of Tanks were radically transformed with the seminal 1.0 update which introduced the new Core graphics engine, HD maps and the new epic orchestral soundtrack. Over the course of the year, several armored vehicle lines were introduced, including Polish and Italian tanks.
The World of Tanks team views the 2018 win as the players’ acknowledgement of their efforts upgrading and expanding the game, and wants to thank everyone for their dedication and votes, pledging to roll out more great and exciting stuff in 2019.
